The Power Of Reviews When Used Wisely

What happens when everyone and anyone has the ability to participate in

your online reputation?

In a recent story on Channel 7 ’s Today Tonight, a number of struggling business owners were interviewed about how their daily sales were being continually impacted by bad customer reviews and what affect they thought these reviews would have on the future of their businesses and their survival.

Why are customer reviews so important?

The best way to answer this question is to identify what type of media and information consumers trust in the market today.

The Nielsen survey indicates recommendations from people are trusted by 84% of people, whereas traditional forms of advertising, such as TV, Radio and Newspaper range from only 58% to 68% of trust by consumers.

What Does This Mean for Your Business ?

The Today Tonight video above reveals how a bad online customer review can contain enough influence  to destroy your business reputation, but the Nielsen survey above indicates a review can also become a very powerful endorsement for your business and attract more customers to your door, when used wisely.

If customer feedback is encouraged and monitored in your workplace, then opportunities for improvement in your business can be derived from suggestions and recommendations made by your customers.

This means that if you encourage your customers, clients, patients, debtors and receivables to give you reviews in a controlled manner, then you also have the opportunity to monitor and manage your customer reviews and address any feedback from a negative experience by contacting your customer and reselling to those customers who have indicated they would buy again.

How To Get More Customers

The best way to get more customers to your doors in todays social economy is to give people a reason to trust you before they decide to buy from you. The Nielsen survey above indicates that 84% of people trust recommendations from people they know and 70% trust consumer opinions posted online. The data in the Nielsen survey indicates that a recommendation or an opinion is the most welcome form of information that a potential customer would be most receptive to, when they are looking to make a buying decision. If a consumer is looking for positive recommendations and reviews so they can make an informed buying decision, then give them what they are looking for.

Collect all your customer reviews and get permission to put them on your website and on your marketing material, so that potential buyers have proof that other people know you, like you and trust you enough to do business with you.

This process will help you build a solid reputation and put you on the road to building a 5 star reputation online, which is what you need to continually get more customers in today social economy.
